A Doula is so many things...and then some!
Here are a few commonly used descriptions:
Labor support
- Postpartum coach
- Liason to the medical team
- Someone trained to give emotional, physical and informational support during pregnancy, labor, birth and beyond!
- and my favorite...your friend. :)
*The word "doula" is greek and means slave or servant...though I think those of us in this field would agree that we are voluntary servants. ;)
